What to bring to the hospital with you

When you arrive at the hospital, please ensure you bring:

  • Ontario Health Card and other insurance-related information.
  • Medications you take regularly at home (please bring labeled pharmacy containers to the hospital)
  • A pencil or a pen
  • A limited amount of money for parking etc.
  • Lip balm or candies to keep your mouth moist
  • Socks and shoes or slippers with non-slip rubber or vinyl soles
  • Personal care items and snacks for your partner
  • Optional hot/cold pack for back discomfort
  • Soap, shampoo and deodorant
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Sanitary pads (large, long with wings - one large package)
  • Personal care items
  • 2 sets of light weight pajamas (opens easily in front for breastfeeding), bathrobe, underpants, supportive bras
  • Personal pillow (optional)
  • Newborn diapers (one package)
  • Baby wipes
  • Sleepers (2 or 3)
  • Receiving blankets (several) - do not take home hospital blankets
  • Rear-facing care seat with SMVSS label (please read manual carefully prior to delivery of baby). You may book an appointment with London Car Seat Safety to check the installation of your seat and learn to use it.
  • Seasonal change of clothes for discharge
  • Soother (optional)
