February 4 is World Cancer Day [News]

According to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1 in 2 Canadians is expected to develop cancer during their lifetime, and one in four Canadians will die from the disease. Between now and 2030, there is expected to be a dramatic increase in the number of cancers diagnosed in Canada. This is primarily due to the growing and aging population, as the majority of new cancer cases diagnosed in 2017 were among Canadians 50 years of age and older.

STEGH Receiving $992K in Provincial Funding [News]

St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is receiving $992,000 in Provincial funding that will go towards a new chiller for the hospital’s HVAC system. Thanks to the generosity of donors in St. Thomas and Elgin County, the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation continues its mission of supporting OUR Hospital. Through a recent investment in OUR Women & Children’s Unit, renovation took place to an existing space to create a comfortable and private “Care by Parent” residence, so parents can stay close to their little ones.
