Located in a former dining hall, the conference area provides a private space for families to meet with the care team. Staff rounding also takes place here. Rounding allows leaders to connect with staff, recognize great work, identify resource needs, and support a positive workplace culture. When needed, the space can also be used by the physiotherapy team.

The Pet Wall is a favourite stop for staff, patients, and visitors. It features a collage of photos of staff pets, with a rainbow sticker honouring those who have crossed the rainbow bridge. It’s a small but meaningful touch that brings smiles and conversation to the unit.

Due to the size and layout of the Continuing Care Centre, there are two nursing stations, one on C Unit and one on D Unit. The D Unit nursing station is where visitors check in upon arrival, staff answer phone calls, and nurses complete charting and care coordination.

The C Unit nursing station serves as a central hub for communication, coordination, and patient monitoring. It is a busy, fast-paced environment where care is planned, documented, and delivered around the clock.

This equipment is used to warm bath packs, which are pre-moistened washcloths designed for personal hygiene. They are commonly used for patients with limited mobility or those who are bedridden. A warm cloth can make a simple task more comfortable and reassuring for patients.

Located between C and D Units, the fish tank is a calming feature and a popular place for patients to sit, relax, and enjoy a quiet moment.

The staff room provides a comfortable, quiet space where team members can take breaks, enjoy meals, and recharge during their shifts.

Recreation Therapy offers structured leisure activities, arts, and games that support patients’ physical, cognitive, emotional, and social well-being. These activities help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while promoting independence and quality of life. Each month, the Recreation Therapy team shares a calendar of events so patients and families can plan ahead.

This large space is used for puzzles, games, and group activities. It also includes a Nintendo Wii console, which supports motor skills, balance, and cognitive function through interactive, motion-based games.

The medication room houses a secure dispensing system designed to ensure patients receive their medications safely, accurately, and on time.

Most patient rooms include either two or four beds. Bed assignments are based on care needs and availability. Each bed space includes a hospital bed, bedside table, over-bed table, chair, closet, and room for assistive devices such as wheelchairs or walkers. Large windows provide natural light and views of the surrounding neighbourhood.

The Rehabilitation Gym is located on the Ground Floor and offers a specialized, therapeutic environment where patients work with healthcare professionals to rebuild strength, mobility, and independence. The space includes parallel bars, walkers, specialized exercise equipment, and therapy mats, all designed to support safe and effective rehabilitation.

One of the most appreciated features of the Continuing Care Centre is the outdoor courtyard. Throughout the year, it offers peaceful views of birds and local wildlife.

During warmer months, patients and visitors enjoy spending time outdoors, relaxing in the shade, tending to the gardens, or enjoying a snack near the fish pond.
