Your Stay

Your Stay

We ask that you only bring essential items with you since space is very limited.

We suggest you bring:

  • At least five changes of loose fitting clothing. Please ensure they are appropriate for the season, marked with your name, and support your needs (consider things such as if you have a cast, incision etc.)
  • Night gowns or pajamas
  • Proper fitting shoes and slippers
  • Tooth brush/tooth paste
  • Comb/brush
  • Deodorant
  • Eyeglasses, dentures and hearing aids

Personal Items

Please make sure that your over bed table is kept clear of clutter and items as that could impede care. Sending items home with family is a good suggestion to reduce clutter. Personal food items should not be brought into the hospital without first checking with the health care team as you may have restrictions that limit what you are able to eat and drink. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Valuables

Please do not bring valuables with you to the hospital (wallets, money, jewelry). St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is not responsible for storing or for the safety of personal belongings. If you have valuables with you at the time of admission, please speak with the staff and they can secure them for you until your family can take them home for safe keeping.

Home Medications

If you have any of the medications you take at home in your possession, please advise the staff immediately. We will keep these medications safe until you are discharged from hospital.
