The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) Board of Directors is interested in extraordinary individuals who are willing to devote their time, energy and talent to making an impact on health care for our community. Our Board of dynamic community leaders is key to achieving the Hospital’s mission and its constant efforts to improving patient care and striving for health care excellence.
STEGH’s Board sets strategic direction, governance policies and oversees the activities of management, ensuring that it is accountable in a transparent and prudent manner. This is a skills-based board that is reflective of the community it serves, and is made up of individuals from all sectors of the community with a wide range of professional skills and experiences.
Board Directors are normally elected up to a three-year term with the possibility to serve up to nine years.
We select our Board Directors based on the experience and capabilities of each member and in consideration of specific skill sets required by the Board. Candidates should be:
- Individuals who are willing to devote the time and energy necessary to perform the role of Director. This includes time for monthly board and committee meetings, orientation and education, as well as special events and meetings throughout the year. Meetings are often held outside of regular business hours.
- Individuals capable of working positively and cooperatively with other Directors and with management.
At this time, we are particularly interested in applicants with professional backgrounds and experience in human resources; finance and accounting; information technology; quality improvement, particularly Lean; and, risk management.
