Influenza A Outbreak Declared on CCC – C Unit: Visitor Restrictions in Effect

Published On: December 5, 2025

St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has declared an Influenza A outbreak on the Continuing Care Centre (CCC) – C Unit. We are taking steps to reduce the spread of illness and keep patients, visitors, and staff safe.

At this time, visiting on C Unit is restricted to essential caregivers only. Please speak to the healthcare team.
Essential caregivers must remain masked at all times, and no more than two may visit at once. Eating and drinking are not permitted during visits.

We also ask all community members to help us reduce the spread of respiratory illness:

  • Please do not visit the hospital if you feel unwell, even with mild symptoms.

  • Consider wearing a mask while visiting other areas of the hospital, especially if you have recently been exposed to someone who is sick.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work to protect those in our care. Updates will be shared as the situation evolves.

If you have questions about visiting, please speak with your loved one’s care team. Thank you.
