STEGH Launches New Patient Partnership Program

Published On: April 27, 2018

St. Thomas – April 27, 2018 – St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is improving health and healthcare services by putting patients at the centre of hospital decision-making activities by launching its new Patient Partnership Program.

“The goal of our new patient partner program is to allow patients, their families and caregivers to play a more active role in enhancing and impacting the quality of care here at STEGH,” said Dr. Whitmore, president and CEO at STEGH.  “Patients bring a unique, first-hand experience which is a rich source of knowledge to influence decision-making.”

Former STEGH patients, their families and caregivers are elgibile to apply to become a patient partner. Through a matching process, Patient Partners will be placed in an appropriate project or other engagement opportunity. Some examples include; committees, meetings; special projects; storytelling and the patient partner focus group.

Our current Patient Advisors who we are extremely grateful for have had a tremendous impact on our patient experience program at STEGH. Our current Patient Advisors will be grandfathered into the new Patient Partner program and will play mentorship roles and help guide our new Patient Partners in understanding and educating them on their roles and responsibilities.

We are actively recruiting for new Patient Partners to join STEGH. Please head to the Patient Partership section on the STEGH website for more information about the available opportunities, criteria, and how to apply.

STEGH wishes to thank the UHN Patient Partners Program for their knowledge sharing and support in developing our program.
