Q. How do I apply for any job postings and/or future opportunities?

A. Please click the “View Current Job Postings” link to see a listing of our current postings. St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.

Q. How long is my resume kept in your database?

A. Applications are kept on file for six (6) months.

Q. Can I apply for more than one (1) job?

A. Yes. You can apply for as many positions as you want with the profile you create.

Q. I’ve looked through the current job opportunities and don’t see what I’m looking for. Can I still apply?

A. St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital receives a high volume of applications. Therefore, unfortunately do not accept general applications. You are able to create job alerts which will notify you of new postings with the profile you create.

Q. How frequently do you update the postings?

A. Job postings are added on an ‘as needed basis’ and are typically posted for seven (7) calendar days.

Q. Do I need to include a resume with my application?

A. Yes, the application cannot be submitted unless a resume is attached. A resume has detailed information about your education, skills and work history that does not appear on the online application form.

Q. I’ve applied for a position and have not heard anything. When will I hear about an interview and/or the status of my application?

A. Our Human Resources Team will review the applicants and contact those whose skills and qualifications most closely meet the requirements of the position. Please be advised that due to the high volume of applications we receive, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Q. How can I verify my application has been received?

A. You will receive an email verification shortly after you submit your application confirming receipt.

Q. Can I contact the HR Consultant/Recruiter directly?

A. Once your application is received, it is reviewed by an HR Consultant who will contact you if they have any questions about your background and/or experience. Due to the large number of applicants we receive, we are not able to accept individual phone calls. Please do not attempt to contact the HR Consultant directly.

Q. Can I drop off my resume in person instead of completing an online application?

A. St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital only accepts applications through our online application tool so that applications are accessible in our database. Therefore, we are unable to accept paper copies.

Q. Can I apply using my mobile device/tablet?

A. Yes! Recently our online application system was upgraded to allow for the ability to submit your application utilizing a mobile device or tablet. However, you may still find it easier to apply from a desktop or laptop computer..

Q.  What browsers are compatible with the online job application system?

A. The system is compatible with Internet Explorer 10 and higher, Chrome and Firefox. If you are using other browsers than you may experience difficulties applying to job postings.

Q. I noted a job posting on your website that stated it was for “Internal Employees Only”. Can I still apply if I don’t work there?

A. No. Job postings that specify “Internal Employees Only” are only for candidates who are currently employed at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. External candidates will not be considered for these postings.

Q. Do I need to provide a criminal record check if I want to work at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital?

A. Yes. As part of our hiring requirement and as a condition of employment all new staff must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Search which includes a disclosure of criminal records and information including pardoned sexual offenses. This document must be dated within six (6) months in order to be accepted by the Hospital. The fee for this is paid for by the candidate and is not reimbursed by the Hospital. You will be given more information pertaining to this requirement from your HR Consultant if you are selected to continue through the recruitment process.

Q. Do I need to agree to a post offer health review if I’m hired?

A. Yes. As a condition of employment all staff will be required to complete a post offer health review with our Occupational Health and Safety Department.

Q. I’m a person with a disability. Would I still be considered for employment?
