Mission

Building Community Support for our Hospital

Purpose

Raise funds to assist STEGH to acquire new equipment and upgrade its facilities

The STEGH Foundation is an Ontario not-for-profit corporation and registered charity with the Canada Revenue Agency. Therefore, it must follow governance guidelines established and monitored by the Canada Revenue Agency. The Foundation is governed by the highest standards by a volunteer Board of Directors.

The Foundation has a volunteer Board of Directors and full-time staff who:

  • inform the community about health care needs provided through STEGH
  • conduct wide-ranging fundraising programs to support these needs
  • recognize donors
  • ensures proper management and allocation of donated funds.
  • Follows Imagine Canada’s guidelines

That since 1986 the Foundation has:

  • received over $25 million from thousands of generous supporters
  • distributed close over $20 million to the Hospital
  • averaged operating expenses of 16% (or 16¢ per $1.00 raised).

There's probably no hospital today that can maintain the very best in healthcare technology and services without the help of some very special friends — its benefactors. Many people give their time, others donate money, and some contribute both.

Each year numerous generous donors — many of them former patients — contribute to our Foundation and thus make a difference in the lives of countless people.

The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) benefits from the generosity of thousands of people who share a desire to make our excellent Hospital even better. We are grateful for the kindness of our donors who, with their financial support, help provide enhanced clinical services, new state-of-the-art equipment and technologies, and enhanced staff education programs... all to better serve our community's health care needs.

How can you help?

If you or your family are sick you will probably use STEGH. Your gift will enhance the activities and programs and ensure the care of patients both now and generations to come.

Who Benefits from your gift?

When you make a gift to the STEGH Foundation you help.... save a patient’s life ... restore a sick child to health ... help provide more effective treatments ... provide compassionate care to a dying patient

Our friends, neighbours and family members - even ourselves, who become patients benefit. Each of us deserves the best possible care right here close to home.

What is a Hospital Foundation?

Chances are you've heard of hospital foundations. But like most people, you may have no idea what they are -- or why they're so necessary. Simply put, a hospital Foundation raises money and community awareness for the need. Through fundraising efforts and community education, they help keep healthcare providers and their communities in touch with each other's needs.

  • The Foundation does not provide funds for any Hospital operating costs.
  • The Foundation accepts donations from people who want to be part of STEGH's ongoing efforts to build a healthier future for you and your family.

Legacy Program

An emphasis is placed upon support for future gifts through bequests, life insurance, or trust arrangements with the assistance of a Legacy Program Advisory Committee, donors, and area legal/estate planning professionals expand knowledge of making a planned gift.

How can you help?

  • make a regular and on-going gift
  • include the Foundation in your charitable giving
  • invite the Foundation staff and/or Board members to speak to your service club
  • become involved as a volunteer.
