Privacy Statement

The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation respects the privacy of donors and protects their personal information - we do not rent, sell or trade your information. We only use personal information to serve and inform donors through periodic exchanges about opportunities to volunteer, donate, and support special funding initiatives or special and third-party events, the Grand Draw lottery, or other Foundation/Hospital activities.

The STEGH Foundation has developed a ‘Privacy Policy’ to demonstrate our commitment to protect all personal information. It complies with all applicable Canadian laws and established guidelines for charitable organizations. It is based upon ten privacy principles detailed in the policy which is available upon request.

All personal information provided by donors and supporters is secured and protected by electronic and manual safeguards against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.

We also comply with the Donor Bill of Rights developed by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsel, the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, Council for Advancement and Support of Education and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.

Privacy practices

The Foundation only collects that personal information which is reasonably required for fundraising purposes including name, title, address, telephone number and other relevant contact information and it is retained to:

  • comply with Canada Revenue Agency and other legal requirements,

  • give appropriate recognition

  • send donors periodic stewardship information

  • provide information about Foundation activities, and

  • promote further donation opportunities

Personal information collected by the Foundation is kept in complete confidence and only used where necessary to meet the above purposes.

STEGH Foundation employees are only authorized access to your personal information on a need to know basis for the purposes noted above. You always have the opportunity to opt out from having the Foundation use your personal information, except as required by law.
