Patient Experience Council

The Patient Experience Council (PEC) at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH), is a partnership of community members and hospital personnel committed to ensure an excellent patient care experience through the delivery of Patient and Family-centred care in all aspects of care development and delivery.

Patient Centered Care is an approach to health care that respects the central role of the patient and family in the healthcare journey and upholds the importance of the family as a partner on the health care team.

The purpose of PEC is to improve patient care experiences at STEGH. The council serves in an advisory capacity, making recommendations on matters influencing the experience of patients and families. The PEC will educate staff on family care issues, educate families on health care issues, and provide recommendations to the hospital leadership team.
