Robert Biron Joins STEGH as New President and CEO

ROBERT BIRON APPOINTED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF ST. THOMAS ELGIN GENERAL HOSPITAL

St. Thomas – April 12, 2018 – Ms. Cathy Crane, Chair of the Board of Governors of St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital (STEGH) today announced that Robert Biron is STEGH's incoming President and CEO. Mr. Biron was previously President and CEO of The Scarborough Hospital and Northumberland Hills Hospital. He joins STEGH on May 14th, 2018.

“I am very pleased that Mr. Biron will be joining STEGH as our new President and CEO,” said Ms. Crane.  “His past experience as a CEO will be an asset to our hospital as we face future challenges in an ever-changing health care system.  He is committed to making a positive impact for patients and our community.”

Mr. Biron has been working in the community hospital sector for over 26 years in various capacities. He has a diverse educational background including a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from the University of Waterloo, and a Master’s of Health Science (MHSc), Health Administration degree from the University of Toronto. His professional credentials include a Canadian Health Executive (CHE) designation, Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant (FCPA), Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA), and a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Biron has participated in a number of working groups and committees for the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and he has also served as a hospital peer reviewer for the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
