The role of the Pharmacy is to provide a high level of patient care through the provision of pharmaceutical services, administered in accordance with accepted ethical and professional practices, for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient’s quality of life.
The functions of the Pharmacy are to promote safe drug use and rational drug therapy. This will involve being able to procure, store, dispense, monitor, and dispose of drugs and chemicals. It will also include the ability to assimilate, compile, organize and distribute information for patients, hospital staff and the community.
The Department of Pharmacy is responsible for the coordination of the following within the Health Centre:
- Provision of Pharmaceutical Care and Patient
Counselling
- Distribution of medications via a combination of Traditional and Carded Drug Distribution System, IV Additive Program, and Wardstock Distribution
- Provision of Drug Information and Clinical Support
- Management of the Hospital Drug Formulary in conjunction with the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee
Hours
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Location
- The Department of Pharmacy is located on the ground floor.
