CT Scan Update
Approximately 200 donors directed a gift to our CT scanner appeal. We are thankful for the community’s generosity and support to the Foundation’s commitment to fully fund the new CT scanner. The new CT scanner has been in service at our Hospital since November 2004. Over 8,000 scans will be performed at our Hospital this year!
Our Hospital recently received news from the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care that the new CT scanner will be paid for as part of the Ministry’s province-wide initiative to replace existing diagnostic imaging equipment. While some government financial support had been anticipated, the Hospital and Foundation was nevertheless both delighted and surprised with the unexpected funding announcement.
Since donations will no longer be used to assist with the cost of the CT scanner as intended, we have contacted these donors to ask for permission to re-direct their gift.
Our Hospital has an ongoing commitment to invest in facilities, equipment, technology and the development of staff. The Foundation’s Board of Directors has considered the Hospital’s approved capital expenditure budget for 2005/2006 ($4.3 million budget compared to $7.3 million of expenditures last year) and is encouraging donors to re-direct their gift to assist with patient care equipment needs in one of the following priority areas:
1.
Surgical Program
2.
Emergency Room Ultrasound Diagnostic Program
3.
Patient Bed Room Modernization Program
We have heard back from many of our donors and appreciate their support and patience!
