Partners in Care Program
The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital has developed this program because we
believe that the presence and assistance of a Partner in Care reduces the
patient’s stress and promotes healing. This privilege is given at the discretion
of the Hospital staff. A Partner in Care has 24 hour visiting privileges with a
special identification access card. Speak with your nurse for an information
pamphlet.
Fragrance Controlled Workplace Policy
• Exposure to strong fragrances in the environment can cause discomfort as
well as directly impact the health of sensitive individuals. For the comfort and
health of all, use of fragrant products, other than minimally scented personal
care products are not to be worn in the hospital.
• Do not bring strongly scented flowers (e.g. Lilies, hyacinths, hibiscus).
Tips for Visitors
• Please do not enter the Hospital if you have been in contact with a person
who has a contagious illness (e.g. respiratory illness with fever, colds,
chicken pox, fl u).
• Do not visit if you are feeling ill.
• Wash your hands upon entering and exiting the Hospital.
• Do not bring latex balloons. Mylar foil balloons may be purchased in the
Hospital Gift Shop or at a florist. Flowers are not allowed in the Intensive
Care Unit. • All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
• Check with the Nurses before giving any food or drink.
• All patients need rest, safety, comfort and quiet: therefore keep visits
short.
