St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital is a 166 bed community hospital providing full coverage for Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and an established Hospitalist program. The surgery program supports Orthopedics, GU, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery.  The hospital management team is very supportive in maintaining adequate numbers of specialists ensuring a wide range of 24/7 coverage. The University of Western Ontario and its tertiary level care is very close when needed and very helpful. Many hospital departments participate in a residency training program.

A hospital building renewal plan has been submitted to the Government for expansion of the operating room suites, Emergency and Ambulatory Care and the addition of a new mental health unit.
