2nd North Surgery is a 21 bed surgical unit that includes a 4 bed Constant Observation Unit. The unit provides preoperative and post operative care for adult patients having surgery.
Patients are prepared for surgery in the new Preoperative Holding Unit located on the unit, where patients can wait with their family member in homelike surroundings until they are transported to the Operating Room.
The new Constant Observation Unit is a surgical step down unit that provides care for surgical patients who no longer require the critical care provided in the CICU/SDU, but more care than is provided on the surgical unit.
