The purpose of Quality & Risk is to contribute to St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital’s vision of being the best community hospital in Ontario, promote quality patient care and work to ensure patient satisfaction, prevent or reduce any harm or potential harm to our patients, visitors, employees, volunteers, medical staff, including the physical assets and financial resources of the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, and to investigate and problem-solve unusual occurrences that involve unexpected outcomes which have caused injury or have potential to cause injury.
Quality & Risk is responsible for the coordination of the following within the Hospital:

- Unusual Occurrences
- Legal Matters, Subpoenas
- Statement for police
- Complaints
- Insurance Coverage, Claims
- Waivers
