The Hospital Board of Governors is made up of seventeen (17) Governors as follows:

Five (5) Non-Voting ex-officio Governors shall be; The President of the Professional Staff, the Vice-President of the Professional Staff, The Chief of Staff, the President and CEO, and the Chief Nursing Executive. One (1) voting ex-officio Governor shall be: The President of the Foundation. One (1) Governor at large who shall be elected at the annual meeting of the Corporation and whose election may not be limited by geographic restrictions.

The remaining ten (10) Governors shall be elected at the annual meeting of the Corporation as follows:

One (1) Governor shall be elected by the Members from persons nominated by the Hospital Auxiliary Association of the Hospital. Seven (7) Governors shall be elected from those nominated by the Nominating Committee all of whom shall be residents of the City of St. Thomas or in a municipality within the County of Elgin. One (1) Governor shall be elected from persons approved by the Council of the City of St. Thomas and who need not be a member of the Council of the City of St. Thomas. One (1) Governor shall be elected from persons approved by the Council of the County of Elgin and who need not be a member of the Council of the County of Elgin.

The Board will consider an appropriate balance of geographic diversity of Governors from within the County of Elgin and the City of St. Thomas.

The Board provides direction and leadership to the Hospital by setting and pursuing corporate goals aligned with the Hospital’s vision.
